I know what you are thinking, "Possum Foot?" what the heck!? What does that mean? I will tell you, a few nights ago, I went for a run, a run to help get me back into a normal running routine, however, I have this weired foot numbing thing...my running weakness, it doesn't matter the type of shoe, how tight or loose that the shoe is, my left foot will grow numb after about a half mile of running.
So, what is a man to do? Stop running? Ha, I don't think so! It didn't stop me that day that I ran about four miles, (more walk then run but still) even when the foot went numb, I pushed forward, I kept pushing in hopes that I would get feeling back in the foot! It isn't like it is a full foot-asleep kind of numb or anything like that, but it is numb enough to where I don't want to be running on it.
I don't know what I am going to do about this, I have been a runner for over two years now. A friend of mine runs marathons and all that good stuff, and I thought to myself "How hard can that be, I will do some training, and I will be right there with my friend" I should know this right now, that I should really think more in reality.
I was home-schooled growing up, I never ran to...well, I never ran to anywhere, why would I? There wasn't a need, no rush.
After two years or so of running, I still have a hard time running a full mile, part of the reason is not sticking with the training, but the other reason is the foot going numb, I wish I knew why it is doing it. Is it because the left leg is weaker then the right? Or maybe something is tweaked, and it is something that I will have to deal with.
I know that it isn't going to keep me from running, I won't let this stop me, and this summer I am going to run two miles without having to stop, at least that is the goal for now.
Me and possum foot are going to battle is out for a while, but I am not going to let it win, I may not be running marathons but that is okay.
Keep in Health.
